God has always furnished a promised land for his people, which is symbolic of heaven, where literally all of the promises of God will be fulfilled. No one asked God for a promised land. The land of milk and honey was completely God’s idea. The children of Israel, who God commanded to enter into the promised land, probably didn’t even imagine a land flowing with milk and honey, much less make this request of God.
After emancipating His people from slavery in Egypt, God quickly brought them to the boarder of Cades Barnea, the promised land; however, they did not enter into the land because they were intimidated by the enemy and were unprepared to fight a formidable enemy. Their punishment was wondering around in circles in the desert for 40 years.
However, the second generation of those same slaves, entered into the land of milk and honey and took possession of it under the leadership of Joshua with very little difficulty. In the same fashion, only a small part of those who are ‘saved’ out of slavery in the darkness of this world, enter into their promised land, on earth and in heaven, by winning the good fight of faith against the enemy. ~ “For those blessed by Him shall inherit the earth, But those cursed by Him shall be cut off” (Psalms 37.22).
To which of these two groups of God’s children do you correspond? Learn how to avoid the errors of those who died after 40 years in the desert and follow the spiritual laws of God that will introduce you into your promised land in this life and in the life to come.
